I am a qualified, BACP Accredited and Bupa Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist with many years of client delivery experience. I support individuals aged 18 to 80+ by drawing upon a range of therapies and tailoring them to meet specific and individual needs, e.g. A Psychodynamic approach can help clients who struggle with anger issues, low self-esteem or depression to recognise how past experiences might still be impacting them now. Polyvagal Theory (PVT) explains how we respond mentally and physically to stress, anxiety and anger. Grounding techniques, together with an understanding of why we are responding in such a way, can help alleviate some of the distress we may be experiencing and help with emotional regulation. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) identifies and addresses irrational thoughts and provides valuable tools for managing anxiety. In most cases, I use a mix of these and other techniques to develop a solution that works for each individual. I always maintain an underlying Person-centred (or Humanistic) approach enabling the client to feel safe, understood and valued.
